At least 62 people have been killed in Mexico following a wave of violence that broke out after the killing of the country’s most wanted man, according to authorities in Mexico.
“El Mencho”, the leader of the New Generation drug cartel, was killed during a security operation to arrest him on Sunday.
Thousands of soldiers have been deployed to help bolster security across the country following a wave of retaliation attacks.
Residents and tourists across several Mexican states have been asked to stay inside, with most businesses, schools and universities closed.
