Trump has now signed the spending bill, ending the shutdown, and promising affordability a key pillar of his 2023 re-election campaign.
“With my signature, the federal government will now resume normal operations, and my administration and our partners in Congress will continue our work to lower the cost of living, restore public safety, grow our economy and make America affordable again for all Americans again,” he said.
Trump also took a swipe at New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani who won election during the shutdown, claiming that the vote reflected anger from a far-left base at the Democrats approach to the shutdown.
