Across Latin America, street art isn’t decoration graffiti – it’s raw social protest with deep roots in social struggle, resistance and revolution. From Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Brazil graffiti/street art is transforming large swaths of large cities and smaller town walls into active canvases and open-air galleries for marginalized communities to protest inequality, dictatorship violence, gender-based violence, archive the disappeared and preserve collective memory in a demand to be seen. A look at three distinct movements in Mexico, Argentina and Chile and one shared belief that street art is a voice of raw social protest that can change societies.
