Hundreds have gathered in Hebron for the funeral of seven-month-old Sam Abuhikad, a Palestinian baby killed after Israeli soldiers opened fire on his family’s car in the occupied West Bank.
The infant was struck in the face during the incident, according to his family. His mother was also wounded and remains in hospital, while his father was injured in the hand.
The Israeli military says soldiers fired at a vehicle they believed was accelerating toward them, adding that the incident is under review.
Sam’s family says they were travelling from Bethlehem to Hebron to visit relatives when the shooting occurred, and are now demanding accountability.
The killing comes amid continued violence in the occupied West Bank, where international organisations report rising civilian casualties and growing instability.
