Peru election: Fujimori and Sanchez clash in decisive debate with a quarter of voters undecided

Peru heads to the polls in a week, with roughly a quarter of voters still undecided between two sharply contrasting candidates. Keiko Fujimori, daughter of late former president Alberto Fujimori and running for a fourth time, faces Roberto Sanchez, widely seen as the political heir to jailed ex-president Pedro Castillo. Nine million Peruvians — one in four — live in poverty, while spiralling violence claimed 2,400 lives last year. Nearly 26 percent of voters may cast blank or spoiled ballots in protest.

Al Jazeera’s Mariana Sanchez reports from Lima, Peru.
