Chinese consumers buy local: Homegrown brands thriving

China’s relationship with the United States is being reshaped not only by diplomacy and trade tensions, but also by consumer behaviour. Younger shoppers across China are increasingly turning away from American brands and embracing domestic labels, boosting the profile of homegrown companies. At the same time, interest in Chinese products and cultural practices is growing in parts of the West, feeding an online trend known as “China-maxxing.”
