Pope Leo XIV has arrived in Angola as part of his multi-nation Africa tour, which has already included visits to Algeria and Cameroon.
While the visit focuses on diplomacy, peacebuilding, and interfaith dialogue, the tour has been overshadowed by a growing political dispute with U.S. President Donald Trump over the Middle East conflict.
The comments have added a geopolitical dimension to what was intended as a pastoral and diplomatic journey across Africa.
