Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has vetoed legislation that would have dramatically reduced the 27-year prison sentence of his predecessor Jair Bolsonaro. The bill was passed by Congress late last year. Bolsonaro was convicted in September for leading a failed coup attempt after losing the 2022 election.
