Ukraine’s Zelenskyy says weapons, not international law, will make difference in the war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has just stepped up to the podium at the General Assembly. His speech is one of the most anticipated at this year’s General Debate.

The Ukrainian leader has started his speech with a stark message: Weapons will make the difference in the war with Russia, not international law.

The statement comes as Ukraine faces hurdles to accessing approved US military aid. Zelenskyy also appeared to express frustration with the UN Security Council, where Russia is a permanent member and wields veto power.
